This is the basic recipe from the "Mennonite Treasury" with just a few "additions" from me - I don't know if it was Loren's favorite but there aren't alot of variations on this one:
Puffed Wheat Cake
1/3 Cup Butter
Handful of Marshmallows
1/2 Cup Corn Syrup
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 Tbsp. Cocoa
8 Cups Puffed Wheat
Melt butter and marshmallows in saucepan, add sugar, syrup, cocoa and vanilla. When this syrup bubbles - let cook 1 minute and pour over puffed wheat. Mix and put in 9 x 12" pan. Press down well with a spoon (or put waxed paper on top and use your hand!). Chill. Cut in squares.
